So, the Dems want socialism.

From FOX News

As their second bill since taking control of Congress, House Democrats moved toward passing legislation Wednesday that would boost the federal minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 an hour over 26 months. It's one of their top priorities.
Oh, joy! Say goodbye to the dollar menu at McDonald's. No more bag boys carrying your groceries to your car. Ohhh and lets not forget, higher prices for everyone.
"Minimum wage workers desperately need a raise," said Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., author of the legislation. "If we truly value work, then we have to ensure that it is fairly rewarded," he said.
Oh, cry me a freakin river! You know what I did when I realized that i couldnt live off the money I was making? I got a better job!!!

UPDATE: the bill passed the house today with a vote of 315-116 /sigh

MORE: The BBC is reporting on the sob story of a "typical" minimum wage worker. Problem is, the person they are talking about is a divorced woman, with an arrest history stemming from a fight with her teenage son. She has grown children with families, but still lives in a shit hole and works for minimum wage? hmmm, to me she is either a scumbag of a mother who's kids want nothing to do with her. Or her ex-husband and kids are the scumbags and they screwed her over... I'm more inclined to believe the first is the truth, namely because any woman would have taken her husband to the cleaners if it was his fault that they divorced. also what the hell is a woman in the financial situation of worrying about having a place to live doing trying to pay $40 a month on a credit card... I'm sorry, but i would spend that money on food. And, shes only working one job why? Hell, I worked 3 jobs at a time at one point in my life. I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone that isn't actually doing everything they can to try to make it. These are the same kind of people that stayed in New Orleans in the days before Katrina hit saying to themselves "I'll be ok, the government will help me if I need it.
