Homelessness

From FOX News:

Study shows that there are an estimated nearly 750,000 homeless in the united states... this is actually a lower number than I would have thought. I know that most of those are people that are either homeless by choice, laziness or for medical reasons. I have to be an advocate of one of the ideas I've heard Neal Boortz propose:
Use several of the old, decommissioned military bases that are spread throughout the country, and set up camps for them. Set up free room and board, free medical care and free job training and education. In return, they agree to live drug and alcohol free. They live and work on the base, with the plan/hope to eventually rejoin society as a functional member that contributes to the world. If they break the drug/alcohol rule, they are out... if they commit a crime, they go to jail.... if they need mental health care, they get it... the tax payers don't have to worry about them destroying the cities, being pushy or committing crimes... it would be considerably cheaper to run a program like this than it is currently to patrol for the problems that this community creates... i would support entrance to a program like this being mandatory, but continuance would have to be optional... most jurisdictions already have laws against vagrancy so you just make it part of the sentence to attend this camp... and then after 3 or 6 months, if they want to leave, they can, further arrests would involve jail sentences...
